Very sad day. My oldest dachshund Ginger, who was 14, passed away early this morning. She had developed kidney problems and had been on medication for the last couple of years. Her condition started getting worse over the last few days, and her kidneys finally gave out.
We have a lot of great memories of Ginger: She had a deep bark that used to alternate with the others’ so the barking was ‘up-down-up-down’. And she would spin around quickly numerous times if she thought she was getting food. As she got older she grew very sensitive to touch, so just a little light scratching on neck would cause her to curl up sideways and her back foot just a kickin’. She will live in our hearts for a long, long time. She was a great, loving dog, had a very good life, and will be deeply missed.

Curt, I too am a pet person myself. Sorry for the belated comment but I just found it. I’ve often asked myself why God allows our pets such a short time with us when they mean so much. All I can come up with is that He needs them. They’re in a place with no pain, no fences and no leash laws. But most importantly, they can again run like the wind. Don’t worry bro’, you’ll be standing outside the Pearly Gates waiting to go in, and suddenly something will brush against your leg. You’ll look down and Ginger will be spinning around in circles because HER human came back to HER. Reach in your pocket and I’m sure you’ll find her favorite treat (bacon?) God loves us too much to not let us spend eternity without our precious “buddies”. Jake
